Since Kim Coletta already said it, I'll just copy and paste her words:
"Allen Epley from Shiner is playing guitar and singing in a new band called The Life and Times. Also in the band is former Someday I front man John Meredith on bass, vocals, and keyboard, and Mike Myers, most recently of Kansas City lowrock phenoms The String and Return, on drums. They have a 6-song EP due out on 5440 Or Fight! Records on July 1st, 2003. This will be followed by some summer touring of the U.S. They will also release an EP for the venerable Japanese label Stiff Slack this summer, followed by a Fall Japanese tour.
Josh Newton and Paul Malinowski have a new band called The Great Fire of 1666. It features Paul on bass, Alex Organ on drums, Matt Wolber (from a great KC band called thestringandreturn) on guitar, and Josh singing and playing guitar. The guys describe it as "kinda sounds like Joy Division meets Sonic Youth meets My Bloody Valentine. Kinda."
Josh is also playing bass in a band called Reggie and the Full Effect who are on Vagrant. He'll be on tour with them from July 9-September 12 here in the U.S."

I keep going to the tour dates page for some reason and I keep clicking the "next month" button, hoping beyond hope for a reunion show.
The Grand Finale.
It is lonely.

Shiner's final performance could not have been better. After performing a solid set, that pulled almost equally from each of their four full lengths, the show was just beginning. For the encore, the original line-up from Splay reunited onstage; Tim Dow, Shawn Sherrill, and Allen Epley. After performing one song, Paul came in to take Shawn's spot, revisiting the Lula Divinia lineup. Shortly after, Josh and Jason found their way back onstage to complete the circle and rock out a few more. The evening was brought to an end with the ever appropriate "Starless". It was nothing short of excellent.

Bad news, Shiner's calling it quits. Head over to shiner.net
for an official announcement from the band. There is some good news though, there will be a final show, a b-sides CD, and maybe four new Shiner-related bands.

Just wanted to let you know that Shiner is "Band of the Month" over at Silent Uproar for September. We have a feature for the band which can be accessed from the home page. Also, DeSoto has been kind enough to give us posters and 5 copies of the new "Lula Divinia" reissue, which is released officially on September 10th. Use the link below to head over to SU and enter the contest.

Inside sources tell me and have said that the band Shiner is planning on recording the song "Only Shallow" from the band My Bloody Valentine, who are now defunct. When they are going to record it is uncertain at this time, but I'm sure the Shiners will keep you all posted. Check back HERE for more information! --Jordan R. ***
